Quality Store Clerk

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Quality Department store in a clean, safe, organised, and controlled condition.
  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming stock, tools, consumables, and quality equipment.
  • Issue tools, inspection items, and consumables to authorised employees as per departmental requirements.
  • Monitor stock levels and notify the department when reorder levels are reached.
  • Ensure correct storage, identification, labelling, and location control of all items.
  • Conduct routine stock counts, cycle counts, and monthly inventory verification.
  • Investigate and report stock variances, missing items, damaged tools, or incorrect stock balances.
  • Support the Quality Department with basic administrative tasks related to stores and materials.
  • Ensure all department-issued assets are recorded and traceable.
  • Assist during audits, stock verification, and departmental inspections.
  • Maintain high standards of 5S, housekeeping, and safe storage practices within the quality store area.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Support calibration and traceability systems for quality equipment.

Education and Experience

  • Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
  • AMIC certification in Vehicle Assembly is advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an automotive OEM or assembly environment.
  • Valid Code 8 or higher driver's license with at least 2 years' driving experience.
  • Experience in stores control, inventory management and quality-related processes is preferred.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
  • Good understanding of stock control and storekeeping practices.
  • Trustworthy, accountable, and able to handle controlled items confidentially.
  • Problem-solving ability and proactive approach to resolving stock discrepancies.
  • Basic technical understanding within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
